Sometimes the solitude is a gift: It was three days before camping season opened that I visited Ozan Point on DeGray Lake in Arkansas. There was no one at the boat ramp or the dock, and the lake was a smooth mirror for the sunset clouds.
Among the mountains and waterfalls of Brazil’s oldest national park, Itatiaia, I rented a small house.
