The Mighty Cucharas

Once long ago, a fiercely loyal resident of the Cuchara valley overheard someone refer to the Cucharas River as a creek. Sternly, the loyal resident informed the neophyte that it was indeed not a creek, but a river. Never mind arguments about physical size, the river punches above its weight in the spiritual realms of peace and beauty and centeredness. Winding its way from the south of the valley heading towards the North Star, it ties together all the land and people of the valley, looming large in both spirit and imagination. Mighty indeed.

The Mighty Cucharas
The image shows a moderate sized body of flowing water running down the center towards us. To its right, there is dense brush, and to the left, tall trees. The river is tended carefully, with rock walls on both sides, and two small rock waterfalls of human construction.© Randy Heffner inspect image detail »

Randy lives at the intersection of philosophy, theology, and culture — reading, watching, walking, and sometimes creating in search of our better selves. Film and photography have a lot to do with it, but anyway, art. The tie is an anomaly.
