Winter Begins on Bear and Blue

image is available for purchase

The change to winter may bring a sense of cold and melancholy, or it may take one’s heart and thoughts to the warmth of a hearth, a hug, and time spent together. This image, from the Sangre de Cristo mountains of Colorado, shows the slow onset of winter as ice grows on a small pond spaced between Bear Lake and Blue Lake.

Winter Begins on Bear and Blue
The image is of a partially frozen pond in a forest. There is patchy snow on the shoreline, along with 10 to 15 feet of ice on the water's edge. Tall evergreens dominate the image, with a small patch of pale blue sky on the left.© Randy Heffner inspect image detail »
